Free activities every Wednesday in August
To celebrate school being out for the six-week holidays, Angel Place Shopping Centre is offering visitors a bumper ‘Summer of Fun’, where every week there will be free, movie-themed activities for the whole family to take part in.
Bridgwater locals planning a staycation this summer can rejoice, as Angel Place’s fun-filled event rolls into town on 1 August and every Wednesday until 29 August from 11am to 4pm. Shoppers can expect an action-packed schedule of dance workshops, arts and crafts, games, storytelling sessions and cake decorating. Each week, there will also be a competition to win Scott Cinema family tickets worth up to £25.
Roger Smith, centre manager at Angel Place, said the blockbuster event is set to reel families in. “We are thrilled to be offering so much additional entertainment for the community this summer,” he said. “We know how difficult it can be to keep the little ones occupied during the school break and coming to Summer of Fun offers an ideal day out for the family.”
This Wednesday, fans of the smash hit film, The Incredibles, can enrol at superhero school and turn themselves into masked marvels by decorating their very own cape and cuffs using pens, stickers, sequins and more. There will also be a masterclass where event-goers can discover their superpower and learn how to fly. An adventure trail will see new generation heroes solving riddles left by evil villains.
Wednesday 8 August at the centre will include Winnie the Pooh storytime sessions taking place in a picturesque picnic area. Children can help make the tales come to life, with a selection of props and musical instruments, and there will also be a maze game with chances to win retailer prizes.
Dinosaur devotees with a sweet tooth are in for a Tyrannosaurus-sized treat on 15 August, as a Jurassic World-inspired cake-pop decorating craft will be on offer, as well as quizzes on prehistoric monsters. It’s a spooky theme on 22 August, with a professional dance teacher to host a Hotel Transylvania-style workshop where mini movers can learn the ‘Monster Mash’ and ‘Thriller’ routines. Summer hats are required to shield kiddie vampires from the sun!
The summer will wrap up with Angel Place’s awards ceremony finale on 29 August, where shoppers can make an Oscars statue and decorate it with paint, glitter and more. Roger concluded: “I’m sure our visitors will be suitably impressed with our line-up of free fun at Angel Place. We look forward to seeing lots of happy, smiling face and hope everyone has a wonderful time with us.”
‘Summer of Fun’ at Angel Place Shopping Centre takes place every Wednesday from 1 August until 29 August. All activities are free to attend.
